The truth is that we live in a time when there is a lot to do for the common good. While some people decide that change will come gradually, others take it upon themselves to do as much as they can to make it happen. In the framework of the Reconciliation and Conflict Transformation project supported by USAID, we have chosen to listen to the people who belong to the second group. We believe that stories that are shared and amplified, can send the call to another person. Such is the story of Mila Mihajlović, the activist who started this journey from a very young age.
Miles’ journey began in a non-governmental organization, showing once again how impactful our daily efforts to spread goodness can be. Although she’s still in high school, her ability to balance time between school and various activities is a success story in itself. For that any many other reasons, When we brainstormed about who should share their stories and experiences, Miles was an obvious choice.

Mila Mihajlovic is a strong advocate for human rights and a feminist who firmly believes that we can make changes in society by speaking up. In her projects, she tries to engage young people because she believes in the power of activities, especially when people from different cultures and backgrounds come together.
In her quest to connect more deeply with Albanian culture, Mila learned the Albanian language. She admits that there are moments when she feels unsure speaking Albanian, but it’s heartwarming to note that on multiple occasions, both Serbs and Albanians have thought she is Albanian due to her dedicated efforts.
Mila emphasizes one of the significant challenges she encounters on the path of reconciliation: the media’s inclination to emphasize negative stories. She firmly believes that the media has immense influence, and its preoccupation with negativity can undermine the efforts of those striving for the common good.
Nevertheless, Mila remains unswayed by these challenges and obstacles. She has no intention of halting her mission, driven by an unshakable commitment to radiate as much love as possible into the world, using various expressions and methods to achieve this noble goal. In the face of adversity, her determination to make a positive impact stands firm.
